   Monkhill Chapel newsletter 14th October 2020    14 November, 2020

Hello all,

Hope everyone is keeping well and getting used to this new period of Lockdown. The weather so far has stayed mild which is ideal for daily walks (even around the garden) as long as it is not raining. Long may it last!

You will be pleased to learn that the local Shoebox appeal went very well indeed and the drop-off sessions produced 50 shoeboxes so a definite increase on last year. Also Sandra Foster from Carlisle (wife of Local Preacher David) dropped off a further 50 boxes making the grand total of 100 shoeboxes to be collected from us. Well done and thank you to everyone who donated.

Please try to "tune in" to a service tomorrow be it on Zoom, Facebook, Telephone or TV; there are plenty of options to suit us all.

The following 2 items have been taken from the North Cumbria Facebook page this week but please remember there is a lot of other interesting information on there -

A Christmas Service CD is now available to pre-order. It includes carols, readings, a Presidential Address and conversations. The audio CD hopes to help those who are unable to watch services online or attend physical services. Listen to this act of worship at home, in your car or on your daily walks. http://ow.ly/Vhcf50ChWlR #Methodist #GodIsWithUs

St. Teresa of Avila wrote a beautiful poem during her lifetime that has been used as a prayer throughout the centuries. It is simple in its format, which is why many turn to it in times of distress. If you are feeling afraid or anxious right now, consider praying this prayer, opening your heart to God and adding your own words, invoking God’s help in your hour of need.

Let nothing disturb thee,
Nothing affright thee;
All things are passing,
God never changeth!
Patient endurance
obtains to all things;
Who God possesseth
in nothing is wanting;
Alone God sufficeth.

Goodnight and God Bless,

Stay Safe,
