Heartstart session at Carlisle West Fire Station    28 June, 2017
When cardiac arrest strikes you have a matter of minutes to save the person’s life. The brain cannot survive without oxygen for more than 4-6 minutes; by carrying out CPR you can continue the circulation of blood, however, this will not bring them back.

A defibrillator is the only way this person will come back, and it is needed on someone’s chest within the first 4-6 minutes. That is why CCC and CFRS have invested heavily in their availability.

Would it not be fantastic to see a Community Public Accessible Defibrillator (CPAD) in every area of Cumbria and all public buildings in Cumbria and information on how to use them?

Please see below a date and time you can attend a Heartstart session to make that difference. Ninety minutes of your time could give so much back to someone who suffers a cardiac arrest. We can all make that difference!
