As you may be aware, Beaumont Parish Hall is requiring some tender care. The hall committee has set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for the refurbishment of the hall. Click here for details and to contribute.

The footpath closure will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the whole length of public footpath No 103009 in the parish of Beaumont between its junction with the U1111 at Beaumont and its junction with the U1113 at Sandsfield.

Cumbria County Council prohibits with immediate effect the passage of vehicular traffic along that section of A689 Carlisle from its junction with the A595 to its junction with the A7 for a period not exceeding 5 days from 30th January 2023 between 7pm and 6am.

A recent inspection of footbridges on the footpath highlighted on the attached plan has revealed that several are in poor condition.

As such we have closed the footpath until repairs can be undertaken.

A temporary road closure has been put in place to allow Cumbria Highways to carry out drainage  works which are expected to commence 9th January 2023 and anticipated to take 8 days to complete.

The Secretary of State has announced the proposal for Local Government Reorganisation in Cumbria.

Subject to Parliamentary approval he is proposing two unitary councils - an East unitary council covering the existing areas of Barrow, Eden and South Lakeland and a West unitary council covering the existing areas of Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland.

Every 10 years a census of the population of England and Wales takes place. The data collected is used by national and local government, charities and other organisations to plan resources and services in health, education, transport and housing.

For the first time, we want as many people as possible to complete their census online and the reasons for this are that it is considerably cheaper, but also the data can be analysed more quickly, meaning decisions are made with much more up to date information.

However, online completion is not mandatory
