A temporary road closure has been put in place to allow Cumberland Council to carry out highway works which are expected to commence on 9 September and are anticipated to take 5 days to complete.

Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner David Allen has recently launched his Police, Fire and Crime Plan Consultation and is seeking the views of the public on the future priorities of Cumbria Constabulary and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.

The consultation results will assist with the development of the Police, Fire and Crime Plan for the next four years. The Plan sets out the aims that the Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Service will prioritise based on what the public would like to see from their services and will be used by the Commissioner to hold the Chief Constable and Chief Fire Officer to account.

Grants are available for young people taking recognised courses of Further Education (including apprenticeships) after leaving school. Alternative Route: via the U1111 and C2042 and a way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

A temporary road closure has been put in place in Kirkandrews on Eden to allow United Utilities to carry out utility works which are expected to commence 28th January 2024 and anticipated to take 1 day to complete.

Flooding is possible for: River Eden and its tributaries from its confluence with the River Irthing through Crosby-on-Eden and Carlisle to the Solway Firth at Rockcliffe.

The footpath closure will prohibit pedestrians from proceeding along the whole length of public footpath No 103009 in the parish of Beaumont between its junction with the U1111 at Beaumont and its junction with the U1113 at Sandsfield.

Cumbria County Council prohibits with immediate effect the passage of vehicular traffic along that section of A689 Carlisle from its junction with the A595 to its junction with the A7 for a period not exceeding 5 days from 30th January 2023 between 7pm and 6am.

A recent inspection of footbridges on the footpath highlighted on the attached plan has revealed that several are in poor condition.

As such we have closed the footpath until repairs can be undertaken.

For the first time, we want as many people as possible to complete their census online and the reasons for this are that it is considerably cheaper, but also the data can be analysed more quickly, meaning decisions are made with much more up to date information.
