   Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Consultation    4 August, 2024

Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner David Allen has recently launched his Police, Fire and Crime Plan Consultation and is seeking the views of the public on the future priorities of Cumbria Constabulary and Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.

The consultation results will assist with the development of the Police, Fire and Crime Plan for the next four years. The Plan sets out the aims that the Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Service will prioritise based on what the public would like to see from their services and will be used by the Commissioner to hold the Chief Constable and Chief Fire Officer to account.

A temporary road closure has been put in place to allow BT to carry out utility works which are expected to commence 12th March 2024 and anticipated to take 1 day to complete.

Location: U1113 Monkhill from its junction with the U1111 to its junction with the C2042.

Alternative Route: via the U1111 and C2042 and a way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

   Closure of River Eden footpath     23 January, 2023

A recent inspection of footbridges on the footpath highlighted on the attached plan has revealed that several are in poor condition.

As such we have closed the footpath until repairs can be undertaken.

   Cumbria Local Government Reorganisation update    26 July, 2021

The Secretary of State has announced the proposal for Local Government Reorganisation in Cumbria.

Subject to Parliamentary approval he is proposing two unitary councils - an East unitary council covering the existing areas of Barrow, Eden and South Lakeland and a West unitary council covering the existing areas of Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland.

   21st March is Census Day.    26 February, 2021

Every 10 years a census of the population of England and Wales takes place. The data collected is used by national and local government, charities and other organisations to plan resources and services in health, education, transport and housing.

For the first time, we want as many people as possible to complete their census online and the reasons for this are that it is considerably cheaper, but also the data can be analysed more quickly, meaning decisions are made with much more up to date information.

However, online completion is not mandatory
