Welcome to the website of Beaumont Parish Council, Carlisle, Cumbria, serving the villages of Beaumont, Grinsdale, Hosket Hill, Kirkandrews on Eden and Monkhill. We hope you find the website informative and interesting. It contains information about the Parish of Beaumont, as well as publications by and information about the Parish Council and its work but please contact us if you have any questions or if you wish to contribute.

The website was launched in response to requests from residents in our Parish Plan for more communication. The website is maintained by members of the Parish Council. If you have any concerns that you feel the Parish Council should be aware of, or if we can be of assistance to you then please let us know. We would like this website to be useful to the whole community so if there is anything you think might be useful to add then please let us know by using the contact page.

FORTHCOMING PARISH EVENTS 

Carols at The Drovers Rest. Please come and join us for some Christmas Carols at The Drovers Rest, Monkhill on Friday 15th December from 7pm. The Drovers Rest have kindly agreed to supply hot mince pies (and mulled wine will be available). Carol sheets and musical accompaniment will be provided..

Beaumont Parish Children's Christmas Party will take place on Saturday 16th December from 2pm - 4pm for the children of Beaumont Parish. If your child is under secondary school age and Santa has not sent them an invitation by 4th December, please contact Bryony on 576403 who will pass on their details to Santa.

Community Christmas Service at Beaumont Parish Hall on Sunday 17th December. 10 am Coffee and mince pies. 10.30am Carol service.
As we celebrate Christmas and God's greatest gift to us, we ask that you bring a gift of food for the Carlisle Foodbank and/or a toy for a child in the Carlisle area for someone who is less fortunate. 

Beaumont Parish Hall Monthly Coffee Mornings on the 1st Friday of each month, from 10.00 am -12 noon on Friday 12th January. The coffee morning is a chance to meet and chat with fellow parishioners. Refreshments available. Proceeds currently in aid Beaumont Parish Hall Rebuilding Fund. Walkers and dogs are welcome.

Since starting the coffee mornings, £100 has been raised for each of the following charities: Hospice at Home (Carlisle and North Lakeland), Animals' Refuge at Wetheral, Carlisle Mencap, the British Red Cross, the Great North Air Ambulance, RNLI, Carlisle Carers, Blood Bikes Cumbria, Neuroendocrine Tumour (NET) Cancer, Eden Valley Hospice, Macmillan Nurses, the Indonesian Tsunami Appeal, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, Carlisle Food Bank, Carlisle Samaritans and Amy's Care.

    

Family Monthly Bingo Night at Beaumont Parish Hall starting at 6.30 pm on Saturday 20th January.  £1 per bingo book. Refreshments available. Raffle. 

Beaumont Parish Over 60's Annual Lunch will be held on Sunday 21st January, arrive 12 noon for 12.30 pm for a 3-course lunch, £10 each, at Beaumont Parish Hall. All parishioners within Beaumont Parish who are 60 or older, and their spouses, are invited to attend. To accept this invitation please ring Bryony 576403 by 11th January. Raffle. Non-alcoholic drinks will be served. Bring your own alcoholic drinks..

Monkhill Chapel - Lunch with Us. A hot 2 course meal followed by tea or coffee (Vegetarian option available) on Thursday 25th January at Monkhill Chapel School-room. Doors open at 12 noon, lunch starts at 12.30 pm prompt. There is no set charge but donations are invited that go towards Monkhill Chapel funds. All are welcome but to ensure that people attending will follow covid safe policies, please contact Kathleen Bowron on 01228 575010 to book a place..

Pancake Lunch at Monkhill Chapel.on Saturday 10th February from 12 noon - 2 pm. Sweet and savoury pancakes, vegetarian option available, £3 each. Tea or coffee included.

Richard and Di Peart plan to give their third talk with slides of their year-long cycling tour of the World, Tonight they talk about their trip to Argentina, Uruguay and the Galapagos Islands on Saturday 24th February at 7.30pm at Beaumont Parish Hall. Price £5 per person. Bar and other refreshments available. Raffle.

Weekly yoga sessions at Beaumont Parish Hall The yoga sessions run each week and cater for all ages and abilities. They run every Thursday from 10 am - 11 am. Wear comfortable clothing.

Bi-weekly Short mat bowling at Beaumont Parish HallThursdays starting at 2pm. Charges are a month in advance. Organised by Carlisle and District U3A. Contact 01228 550033 for further details. 

LATEST PARISH COUNCIL NEWS

Cumberland County Council are working with the University of Lancaster to develop the Food Security at Local Level (FLL) survey to measure the extent to which people in Cumberland are struggling to access food - whether financial or other reasons - and what kinds of support services (if any) they use. The survey is available to everyone living in Cumberland over the age of 18 and the team encoutages one adult per household to take part, regardless of whether they have experience food insecurity or not. Participants have the chance to enter into s free darw to win gift vouchers of up to £100. In conjunction with Cumberland Council, the Parish Council are hosting several litter picks within the Parish.The inaugural Parish litter pick that took place at Beuamont Village on Sunday 19th November was a huge success. Nine willing volunteers met on the village green at 10am, received their brief, collected their tools and got to work along the four primary access routes and the central core of the village. A huge thanks to all those who came along and helped.

BEAUMONT PARISH COUNCIL - VACANCY FOR A PARISH CLERK Applications are invited for the above post which will becoming vacant when the present clerk retires. The hours are 4 hours per week, paid in accordance with the NJC salary scale appropriate to level and experience. The successful applicant will be expected to work from home, and a laptop computer and printer will be provided to facilitate this.
